World Roll Out for Animals

A peaceful protest against animal cruelty. Rocking up on anything that rolls. Roller skates, bikes, skateboards, inline skates, scooters, prams, wheelchairs and so on. Walking and even running is cool too. Pets welcome and kids are invited to come dressed as their favourite animal. Adults as well. Imagine a cow on a skateboard or pig in roller skates! Lamb on a bike!

DATE: 13th of April, 2024. (Saturday)

From initiating animal activist communities, to established ones in vegan capitals. The roll outs locked in: US, Australia and the UK (TBC).

Street Education

Sarah J has worked as a volunteer doing street education with Sea Shepherd. This was a great way to meet people who were not connected to those with an animal rights mindset, but have questioned the reality animals face. While the industry tries to bury the truth, many do think about where their food comes from.

Sarah J also worked for Greenpeace as a frontliner. A role the Rainbow Warrior captain at the time said to her, "is harder than any other position within Greenpeace". This is true, as some people on the streets do project. However, Sarah J said it was mind blowing meeting lawyers, farmers, accountants and many other members of society not deemed to be part of alternative culture, (often the stereotype of animal activists and vegans) who were open to learning about environment and animal cruelty campaigns. Many people would get teary and change their ways on the spot.

Sarah J is hitting the streets to talk about animal agriculture for The Animal Union - under the Animal's Sentience Alliance. The first topic is: Would you trial a plant-based diet for 30 days?

Sarah J will be doing the street education in roller skates, on the Gold Coast. She stumbled across someone in Florida also doing skate reach out for animals! They are organising a roll out for animals too.

Sarah J was originally going to dress up as an animal in skates... because that is how she rolls but masks and skating are tricky.

Videos of the first series will soon be up on the YouTube channel .

Honest Protesting

Similar to disruptive protests – which have been behind many social changes in history. Honest Protesting will get labelled by the media as disruptive, which is fine but uneducated. It is about rising up against the misinformed opinions and stating the facts. To be brave and speak out about unpleasant topics in an honest way. Exposing the hidden truth.

For The Union, it is exposing the truth about animal cruelty/abuse that has been buried by animal agriculture and bringing

refreshing candour into the light. It's not about offending but to tell it like it is, in a non-aggressive manner. Not limiting support for the animals due to the fear of veganphobia. It's more indirect than disruptive and a great entry level to protesting. #honestyforanimlas

Those not wanting to protest can participate by sharing material online. Through videos and live-streaming. Taking action to effect change.

Collective action is said to be best, but individuals can have a loud influence too. Animals need rebels, change agents and reformers. Talk to us if you have ideas. Watch our social media for examples.

Animal Rights Lawyer

In February 2021, Sarah J had a shift occur within after an animal rescue. As she attempted the rescue, men were being abusive towards the animal. This shift led to a desire to study law for the animals. To help make change through the system, as she had activist burnout. Sarah J was reluctant to study law with what seems like an out of balance system. She also wanted to do more than just improve animal welfare standards. While this is the path to reaching animal rights, billions of animals in Australia will die before this change begins.

Sarah decided to face the restrictions and enrolled at university in 2023. Leaving a future career in guitar amp repairs behind, as her heart couldn't forget the helpless and innocent animals.

Sarah J does not know how to be on this planet and not be involved in offering aid to as many animals as she can. Doing so with all she has to offer. This is what has to be done knowing billions of animals die each year for human's unnecessary needs.

Jokingly, studying law appears to be a better idea than forming a band with other vegans and writing songs, or paid gigs going to a cause. Sarah J still plays bass as an outlet and has written lyrics about animal cruelty with her best friend, an original animal rights punk. The lyrics are mainly directed at meat-flakes and not kid friendly.

Sarah J's goals as an animal rights lawyer is a long list, but thankfully Sarah J has seen the Animal Justice Party addressing many of  these issues that were going unheard of and required exposure.

The lawyers at The Animal Law Institute are her inspiration to stay on this path and she is thankful for their support.

Vegan Health Products

Sarah J, who runs The Animal Union human division (President), has extensive experience in the health food industry.

The Union is setting up an online vegan store with affordable prices – and The Union means much lower! Many vegan food businesses face higher taxes, are often smaller companies and get no subsidies from the government. Some have a conscious consumer focus, which can mean high prices set for a target market. The Vegan Health Products online store will have a dramatically reduced mark up. Again, for the animals.

All supplements will be vegan, as not always stated on the label. It is devastating that many ingredients are derived from animals. For example: Vitamin A is often from fish liver. Glucosamine, in most joint formulas, is shellfish. Many tablets have gelatine as a binding agent. Amino acids can be from duck and chicken feathers or pig skin/fur.

There are vegan options for all products.

Vegans requiring supplements is not from the diet requiring them, as no animal products present. It is from a lack of nutrients - soil depletion is one reason.

Guest
Speaking

Opportunities to talk about The Animal Union have been offered, and coming up soon. They are a great way to connect, as you all know, to like minded people and those sitting on the fence. Engaging with aggression and opinionated mentalities does not have a high success rate and it is best to connect to those beyond this attitude, even with some blocks present. Who are open to the truth about animal cruelty in all its horrible forms and those that are making changes, learning. This is a larger number than originally expected.

Market research, through LOHAS, found that many people are making ethical choices about their food selection in relation to sustainability. A lot of people are also choosing a plant-based diet for their health. There have been surveys conducted that found  8 out of 10 Australians see farmed animals as sentient beings. Indicating much hope for change. As there are many reports in Australia and globally, showing an increase in the number of people thinking about and reducing, animal products Eventually becoming vegan, if not straight away.

Guest speaking can help reach two types: The Leaners (open) and The Learners (changing). The Animal Union focuses on connecting with these two types, as looking forward with hope and determination is how to be a part of the bigger picture.

Australians are behind with changing their diets to protect animals and need to catch up. Australia plays a major role with animal cruelty and is refusing to look at sustainable ways of farming that reduces and does not involve, the pain and suffering of farmed animals. Instead, Australia remains in denial about the impacts the animal agriculture industry has on people, animals and the planet.
